Latin American MBA Life Cycle
Event Summary of The Latin American MBA Life Cycle: A Roadmap to a successful career in Canada
Last month, LAMBA, the Latin American MBA Alumni Network had the opportunity to present the “Latin American MBA Life Cycle” event in Toronto – discussing key aspects of building a successful career in Canada.
The event was held on Wednesday April 6th in Toronto and was a great success attracting a large audience. Sponsored by CIBC, the forum provided an excellent opportunity for MBA candidates and graduates to interact with high ranked professionals where they were able to share their experience, gain career insights and receive advice with specific strategies to successfully enter the competitive Canadian job market.
Matt Petersen, Director of CIBC Diversity Strategies, highlighted the value LAMBA brings to Canadian companies and corporations, by facilitating more integration between MBA professionals with Latin American background and the business community in Canada.
Mr. Petersen took the opportunity to ratify the commitment CIBC has with LAMBA and its initiatives, acknowledging that the association will continue to play a fundamental role in the making and development of future leaders.
The guest speaker panel for this event included high profile professionals such as:
- Barb Rosen, Program Director International Associate Development at Scotiabank
- Francisco Sagredo, VP Finance, Planning and Analysis at Maple Leaf Foods
- Sandy Somers, Partner at McCracken & Partners Executive Search
- And Susana Cicic, Executive Director Specialized Credit at CIBC
During the event, the guest speakers shared their experiences and opinions on relevant subjects such as the current job market situation in Canada, strategies for professional self-positioning while looking for a job, essential information when preparing a resume, cover letters and interviews; as well as valuable –first hand- insights about the importance and benefits of targeted networking.
The event was hosted by Victor Olvera, LAMBA’s President and MC for the evening, and brought to life with the help of other members of the association. The evening finished with a networking session among all participants including the panelists.
